Disability Case Management
Employees are your number one asset, but when injury or illness occurs, your company suffers. Productivity, revenue, and morale can all be affected while your costs increase. Getting your employees back to work, both quickly and safely, is a top priority.
WellServe’s team of dedicated health professionals provides the support and resources you need to work with ill or injured employees. Our goal is to provide the professional services you need to assist employees in making a safe and timely return to work whenever possible, so productivity, profit, and employee morale can be restored.
The direct and indirect costs of worker absence and disability affect your bottom line by increasing operating expenses and decreasing profit. Indirect costs include overtime, lost productivity, and hiring/training replacements for absent or disabled workers. WellServe’s Case Managers and Physicians help control costs through effective Disability Case Management for workers who suffer from Occupational and Non-Occupational illness, injury or permanent disability.
Immediate Occupational Assessment Services
WellServe’s Immediate Occupational Assessment Service (IOAS) is a helpful resource for both your employees and your company to access immediate, skilled, and cost effective care for non life-threatening work-related injuries.
Return to Work Plan
A Return to Work Plan outlining the employee’s capabilities and limitations is developed for review and implementation by the employee and the company. Plans may include a period of work-hardening or graduated hours of work, and usually range from 2 – 6 weeks, to a maximum of 12 weeks. The company assigns tasks within the employee’s capabilities and limitations and the employee must function at the assigned level. The WSIB or Insurance Carrier is advised of the elements of the plan as well as the employee’s progress throughout the program.
On-Site Occupational Health Nursing Services
WellServe’s Clinical Case Managers are Nurses with advanced training in Occupational Health and Case Management. Services include absence management through early intervention, weekly indemnity and compensation claims management, management of modified work programs, emergency care and follow-up, disease and wellness counselling, and pre-placement health assessments.
Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAE)
A Functional Abilities Evaluation compares the employee’s current physical capacities to the job requirements. The FAE process includes an interview and work- task simulation. The resulting report provides recommendations to assist in the development of modified or return to work plans.
Physical Demands Analysis
Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) describes the physical and non-physical demands of a job. An accurate PDA is often the only tool your company has in describing the physical requirements of a job to a Health Care Practitioner or to the Provincial Compensation Board.
Ergonomic Assessments
Ergonomic Assessments help prevent employee injuries and reduce employer costs that stem from repetitive strain or work task design. Workplace evaluation and consultation are essential components of the assessment.
