Compliance Services

Compliance with Provincial and Federal Occupational Health and Safety Laws is a key business requirement, yet many businesses are unaware of their legal obligations. WellServe can help you to understand and become compliant with Health and Safety laws that affect your business.

Medical Surveillance for Designated Substances

Medical surveillance is required and regulated by the Ontario Ministry of Labour for all companies working with Designated Substances. WellServe provides pre- placement and periodic medical examinations and lab analysis (both pre-exposure and post-exposure) for any Designated Substance. A final report summarizing the examination results and measured fitness of your employee is then prepared for your Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Mobile Equipment and Vehicle Operator Examinations

It is essential that Mobile Equipment and Vehicle Operators undergo medical assessment to ensure they are fit for safe operation. Mobile Equipment and Vehicle Operator Examinations include testing for vision, hearing and medical fitness to ensure that the employee or prospective employee can meet the demands of the job in accordance with CSA standards.

Pre-Placement Medical Examinations

Pre-placement nursing examinations provide each prospective employee with a general health assessment that takes into account past medical history, history of occupational exposures, lifestyle factors, family history, and a general functional enquiry.

When the health screen identifies serious health issues, or when there are concerns as to the prospective employee’s ability to perform the proposed job safely, a WellServe physician provides a final fitness assessment. This is followed up either with counsel to the nurse or further assessment of the employee.

Pre-employment and pre-job change assessments provide a baseline health assessment from which future health changes can be measured. This is particularly useful in cases where a WSIB claim may be the result of a pre-existing condition.

Post Offer Screening

Prospective employees must meet the necessary fitness requirement to perform the essential duties of the job. Post Offer Screening, completed by a Registered Physiotherapist or Kinesiologist, tests the employee’s ability to perform the physical requirements of the job once the conditional offer has been made.

Vision Screening

WellServe Vision Screening tests for binocular, near and far point vision, stereo depth perception, vertical and lateral phoria (muscle balance between the eyes), colour and peripheral vision. Screening is conducted using state of the art vision screening equipment and technology. Any suspected colour deficiencies are further tested with Ishihara or Farnsworth screening methods.

Pulmonary Function Testing

WellServe Nurses certified in Spirometry conduct pulmonary testing of employees using computerized Spirometry equipment. All PFTs are reviewed by a WellServe physician who then makes the final analysis and recommendation for treatment and follow-up if required.

Industrial Hygiene Services

Through an existing partnership with a leading Industrial Hygiene provider, WellServe offers a full range of Environmental and Industrial Environmental testing. Easy to understand Industrial Hygiene reports help the employer in meeting provincial legislation requirements.
